3rd Canadian Division Support Group (3 CDSG) is headquartered at 3rd Canadian Support Base Edmonton (3 CDSB Edmonton). As a formation, 3 CDSG takes care of the baseline institutional support such as infrastructure, ranges and training areas, personnel services and technical services.
Personnel services include support such as the garrison orderly room, releases, language training and career transitioning. Technical services include support such as clothing stores, base maintenance, base traffic and snow and ice removal. There are more than 2000 civilian and military personnel who work hard every day to support the mission of 3 CDSG.
The City of Medicine Hat has today granted Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Suffield and British Army Training Unit Suffield (BATUS) Freedom of the City. Lead by Base Commander CFB Suffield, Lieutenant-Colonel Sean Hackett and Commander BATUS, Colonel Jim Landon, the two units exercised their right by marching through the streets of the city as crowds cheered and applauded.

On Monday March 23rd, The 3rd Canadian Division Support Group (3 CDSG) Change of Command ceremony took place to mark the departure of outgoing Commander, Colonel Derek Macaulay and to welcome incoming Commander, Lieutentant-Colonel Robert Thompson.

On September 21st, more than 25,000 Canadians participated in the fastest growing race in the country, the Canadian Army Run. Since the event began in 2008, over a million dollars has been raised to support Soldier On and the Military Families Fund.

On September 5, the Garrison runway was the finish line for the 3rd Stage of the Tour of Alberta. 118 cyclists representing 19 countries travelled to Alberta to compete in one of Canada’s biggest professional cycling stage races
