Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia — In June 2015, Corporal Andrew Wesley, a Canadian Army Imagery Technician, accompanied the Canadian contingent to Exercise KHAAN QUEST, an annual multinational exercise in Ulaanbatar, Mongolia hosted by the Mongolian Armed Forces and co-sponsored by the United States Army and Marine Corps. Cpl Wesley was there to document Canadian Army humanitarian efforts in Mongolia including engineering civic action program projects, health services support engagements, and the enhancement of interoperability for multinational peacekeeping operations. Inspired by his experiences on this journey, Cpl Wesley’s photo essay below offers a glimpse into the life of a soldier deployed far from home, and offers a perspective into Canada’s place in the world and Canadians’ continual efforts to help those in needd.
