Ottawa, Ontario — Walk, run or roll in support of Soldier On and Support Our Troops

A Canadian Army staple since 2008, Canada Army Run will be back again with a virtual edition from September 10-19, 2021. Registration is open at

Canada Army Run: Virtual continues to celebrate the rich history and heritage of the Canadian Army while offering the same races as the traditional event. This year’s theme is UBIQUE – Everywhere. The distances and themes are:

  • 5K – 150th anniversary of “A” and “B” Batteries – the first full-time or regular elements of the post-Confederation Canadian Army
  • 10K – 70th anniversary of the Battle of Kapyong
  • 5K + 10K – UBIQUE Challenge
  • Half marathon – 80th anniversary of the Battle of Hong Kong
  • 5K + Half marathon – Commander’s Challenge

“What makes Canada Army Run unique is our military flavour,” said Canada Army Run Race Director Major Lesley Quinlan. “This year we are honouring the long history of the Artillery in Canada. Each registrant gets a race shirt or hat, both bearing the Army’s distinctive CADPAT camouflage pattern and the Support Our Troops yellow ribbon. They will also receive a challenge coin that celebrates Canadian military history. As always, we are raising funds for Soldier On and Support Our Troops.”

While participants won’t be able gather for race day in Ottawa this year, they can all still be part of this great event. A virtual event has no geographic limits. Participants can take part anywhere in Canada or the world, and can complete their event by walking, running or rolling at any location, at any pace, at any time, inside or outside, during the event window.

Over the years, Canada Army Run has raised over $4 million for Support Our Troops and Soldier On. Support Our Troops, the official charitable cause of the Canadian Armed Forces, provides Canadians a direct way to support our women and men in uniform, and their families with the challenges that arise from military service. Solider On contributes to the recovery, rehabilitation, and reintegration of military members with a physical and/or mental health illness or injury through the transformative power of sport.

Participants are encouraged to set up fundraising pages. This can be done individually or in teams, which is a great way to promote friendly competition between bases, regiments and units.

As the weather warms up this spring, it’s a great time to start training. New to Canada Army Run: Virtual this year are monthly training runs and a distance challenge.

Early bird registration continues until March 31, 2021, with a fee increase on April 1, 2021.
